Strive to Drive is a ninety-minute high school classroom activity that ties together personal finance concepts and knowledge using a gameboard and activity cards that guide students through the process of buying a car. Small groups of students work together as they find a job, research vehicles, select insurance, and consider how to pay for and maintain their car. This activity may be broken into two class periods and is recommended for teachers working with students in the area of personal finance.
Each Strive to Drive kit consists of six gameboards, six sets of activity cards and one teachers guide. One kit should sufficiently handle a class of 24-30 students.
Materials for this activity are provided free to teachers through grants to the Ohio Council on Economic Education from the Ohio Insurance Institute and State Farm Insurance.
