TOLL-FREE INSURANCE COMPANY CLAIMS NUMBERS TO ASSIST IN FILING STORM LOSSES

COLUMBUS-To help residents and business owners affected by the April 28, Canton-area tornado and other storm-related damage, the Ohio Insurance Institute (OII) provides the following list of insurance company toll-free phone numbers and Web sites to assist with filing claims.

Windstorm-related losses are covered by homeowners insurance (renters also have coverage for possessions due to this peril). Auto insurance protection is provided under "other than collision" (comprehensive) coverage. Business owners may have similar coverage that includes business interruption insurance.

Some companies have catastrophe teams and/or field representatives in the storm-damaged area to expedite the claims process and to assess damages.
