DUI Repeat Offender Statistics

Fact: 59% of the total number of drunk driving convictions are by repeat DUI offenders.

The number of people killed by drunken drivers increased in 2000 for the first time in five years, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Alcohol-related deaths rose to 16,653, or 40% of the total, up from 15,976, or 38% in 1999.
