Fatalities caused by red light running in the US numbered
almost 6,000 between 1992–98. During the seven-year period, about 1.5
million were injured in these crashes. About 11,300 red light running crashes
occurred annually in Ohio during the same time period with an average of
29 fatality crashes each year.
